What is a treatment?

Every horse will be assessed fully prior to the start of the treatment itself. By taking full details from their owner, looking at the horse in motion and assessing them statically each treatment will be tailored to what will get the best results on that day.

It is not just about what happens on the day though! You may also be given a range of exercises and activities to do afterwards in order to recruit and activate certain muscles or joints. These are fully explained and you will be given a timetable. We then make a plan together of when to reassess and review the plan.

Chiropractic adjustments & manipulation

This technique addresses the relationship between biomechanical and neurological dusfunction. The result is the release of a joint and soft tissue dysfunction to optimise neurological activity.

Stretching

The many benefits include loosening and relaxing muscles, mobilising restricted joints, improving efficiency of a limb and improving posture and proprioception.

Massage

Massage not only relaxes your horse mentally and physcially, but also reduces muscle tension and improves circulation. This aims to reduce the chance of injury and also improves their posture by ensuring they posture and move correctly.

Myofascial release

This technique can be used over the whole body. It is a gentle form of soft tissue manipulation which works on the fascia (the tissue covering all structures of the body) when it has become tight, dehydrated and stuck.

Intrasound

Intrasound uses mixed frequency sound waves to stimulate blood flow and encourage tissue repair. This can provide pain relief when used alongside other techniques.

Kinesiology taping

The presence of kinesiology tape on a muscle or joint is known to enhance circulation, alleviate pain, offer support and repair fascia.

Prescriptive exercises

These may include static ground exercises such as tail pulls or stretches, led exercises and ridden exercises. I frequently incorporate poles, hills and transitions into a regime so that you are able to make further improvements to your horse's body between treatments.
